Hi all-

I’m not sure how I got so emotionally invested in Eric’s story- perhaps because he is where I thought I would be this month, perhaps because he sounds incredibly brave, or perhaps because I was looking to a similar story to relate to.  For whatever reason I feel tied to his tale and am very upset to hear how poorly he is doing.

The infection in his lung is very serious and, therefore, his lung will be removed today or tomorrow.  Please send your positive thoughts, prayers and good karma to Eric.  He needs all the help we can send him right now.

Hi all-

I had my monthly visit with Dr. J yesterday.  My counts have been the same for about a month now and that means I am not getting better but I am also not getting worse.  Dr. J  is still not convinced I have MDS though because I have some lab results and symptoms that are not typical for MDS.  Before they treat me for MDS, which involves compromising my immune system, they have to be 100% sure I do not have an autoimmune disease.  Since I am relatively stable and can be supported by blood transfusions (speaking of I am having another on Friday and I am super excited) it is worth taking the time and making sure we have ruled everything else out.

So that’s the news for now.  Check in with me Saturday when I am full of new blood and feeling great :)

Hi all-

Had another nurses visit this morning and my hemoglobin is still steady.  I have a doctor’s visit next week and will have more to report then.

In the meantime, the boy I told you about earlier, Eric, has had his transplant and could really use your positive karma.  I have never met Eric but have been following his blog closely.  He has a lung infection and his stem cells have not grafted yet.

Please take a moment to send some good thoughts his way.

Thanks,

B

Hi all-

I can see from the stats that you are still visiting- still checking up on me.  Muchly appreciated.

Unfortunately- or fortunetly (I’m not entirely sure), I have nothing to report.  I’m still in a holding pattern- still having my counts checked reguarly and now they have started to test me for rare diseases that may be causing the underlying anemia.  Nothing has shown up yet- but since there are about a trillion rare diseases it could take awhile.

Anyways, I just wanted to say thank you for looking in.  Alls well for now- besides being a very tired and frustrated Becca- and I’m quite happy not to be spending the month of October in a hospital.

Hi all-

Happy New Year to everyone. Things are still holding steady and I’m still waiting for an action plan from my doctor- could be another couple of weeks before I know what’s happening.

In the meantime I’m still going to work- seeing friends- trying to have a life.  It’s hard sometimes because I get tired very easily.  In fact the fatigue is my biggest complaint.

I’ve also become queen of the nap- so thanks to those of you who have patiently waited when I needed a break, or a power-nap, or need to whine at work about how tired I am.
