Well- I was suppossed to have an outpatient surgery tomorrow but it has been postponed (maybe cancelled?) because my counts have been pretty stable. They aren’t normal by any means but they aren’t getting worse as rapidly as they were at the beginning of the summer.
I see the doctor again tomorrow but it looks like we are in a holding pattern for now. Which is good news!
I’ll let you know more as I do.

Well I’m not particuarly good at birthdays, they tend to make me cranky and emotional, but this one has been very special. My friends have been truly wonderful to me and it of course nice to feel so loved.
So cheers to all of you- thanks for being so supportive. And yes, I realize this is cheesy, but there really isn’t any way around it.

Just wanted you all to know that the doctors and nurses at Sloan-Kettering took very good care of me and the worst part of the BMB was the lidocaine they use to numb you up. So- yes it hurt- but nearly as much as the previous two.
The best part was they have a cartoon on the wall in the BMB room which is a doctor saying “This is going to hurt.” At least they are honest!
During the test I told Dr. J she was my favorite Dr and she said all her patients say that and that I’m going to have to come up with a better compliment
Anyways, I’m awfully sore today but at least the test is behind me. Hopefully my mother’s fingers have recovered from the serious squeezing I was doing.
Ciao,
B
Hi all-
Well I don’t have a definite date yet- but I think we are looking at Mid-October now. Tomorrow I am having another bone marrow biopsy and the results of that test should tell us a lot.
Cross your fingers that they numb me well!

I meant to write yesterday but I kept putting it off in hopes that my doctor would call with my hospital entrance date. Yesterday, I had my monthly Sloan Kettering doctor visit. It went pretty well and afterward I had the pulmonary test to make sure my lungs can handle the transplant. It was pretty cool actually. The technician put me in a clear box and had me breathe various different ways into a mouth piece. The box is completely sealed so they could measure not only the capacity of my lungs but also the chemical make up of my breath, oxygen, carbon dioxide and helium I think.I also had to run up and down stairs
Anyways, happy Friday and I’ll be sure to update you as soon as I have news.
